Cornfield

September 24 2007 1:51 pm

I meant to post this up last week..but it’s been sitting in my head until now.

Driving home from school on Route Z last Thursday I drove by a couple cornfields that were being harvested.   I almost pulled into a driveway to sit there and soak it up.

Soak what up?  Memories of jumping in the back of grandpa’s big truck that had just been, or was in the process of being,  filled up with corn and almost burying myself.
Riding with grandpa in the combine, and wanting to be a farmer when I grew up.

Miss you grandpa…wish I had more time with you.

This past weekend

September 24 2007 1:45 pm

Saturday:
Rolled out of bed much earlier than normal to watch the first game of the Centralia Softball Tournament.

Congratulations to the girls for winning the whole thing!  To do so they had to be 2 undefeated teams, one of which was last years state champion.

After watching the first game Em and I spent the next 6 or so hours planning, getting materials for, and putting up two bulletin boards in my room.
It was quite an experience looking around a store full of material..but I survived.

Sunday:
8am church, then at school from 11-5.
The relieve some stress I met a couple buddies at the Mizzou Rec Center and played ball from 7-10pm….which is probably why I’m so tired today!

No Tour of Missouri for Me

September 16 2007 9:49 pm

I’ll be so happy if I can ever get ahead in writing lesson plans.

Really wanted to watch part of the Tour of Missouri this weekend, but too much school work to do.
The final stage, in St. Louis, went through Forest Park, a place I can’t wait to go back to.

Oh well, maybe next year…

Great week

Having a great week so far!

Missing school tomorrow for DESE Mentor training stuff…but the rest of the week should be good.

Teaching is Tough

September 4 2007 9:48 pm

If you’ve been teaching for a while you’ll probably look at the title of this post and chuckle out loud.  “Teaching is tough…No Duh!”

Until you become a teacher you have just don’t have any idea how much work is involved.
I’m lucky, I’ve got overall great students, great co-workers, and the support of a wonderful family.

Without all this I don’t know if I’d be able to survive 6 preps as a first year teacher.
I’m kind of worried about how I’m going to stay sane when basketball season starts, but I’m excited about getting to coach a sport that I enjoy as an athlete so much.
