I’m ready for this first year of teaching to be over.
I don’t understand how, but it seems like I’ve got more stuff going on now than I did when I was coaching.
Overall, I’d say this year was a great success. There’s tons to work on for next year, but I think I’m off to a good start.
I’ve also talked to a couple young ladies the past couple days about joining the cross country team next year and they just might do it!
On a different note, Grand Theft Auto IV rocks!

It’s hard to believe it has been so long since I’ve blogged. The time has flown by.
FBLA Districts was good, the students had a great time. I think it opened their eyes to the possibilities to what is out there beyond Centralia.
I’ve been trying to prepare a couple things for FBLA:
- We’re having a March of Dimes: March of Babies event on May 10th from 9am-3pm at the high school track. So far we’ve got some donations from businesses but I still need to get some info to the newspapers, radio stations, etc SOON!
- I’m trying to take a couple student to the FBLA National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of June. Trying to figure out how to raise the money. Visited with the district money person and got a bunch of good ideas.
Otherwise, I had to be at the middle school early this morning for a summer school meeting. In my opinion, the high school portion of summer school is very terribly run (I think the middle school and younger have good programs)! As of right now, I don’t what the last day is for students to sign up for classes. I’ve got to have at least 10 students signed up to be able to teach a class.
I’ve pretty much given up on teaching it this year.

Having no break in a day is possibly the worst idea ever.
I’ve got much to grade, and no plan period today to do it.
For my plan period yesterday, I spend most of the time filling out an FV-4 (money for Vocational Education) trying to get a couple digital cameras, a couple video cameras, etc (including a digital rebel and a hi definition video camera).
When I wasn’t spending time researching prices for equipment I was also getting together FBLA materials for state, including a parent permission form and other stuff I can’t even think of right now.
In Entrepreneurship class [going on right now] I had the students research a section of the current chapter we’re on and develop a presentation that the other students will watch and takes notes from….instead of me taking the time to read the chapter and create the notes myself, which can take more than an hour depending on the topic/chapter.

Feeling a little slow today.  Didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night, but at least it’s an “A” day today so I get a break here at school.
I’ve got a ton of grading to do…and I’m not looking forward to it. It would be much easier if I didn’t have so many different subjects. It’s hard to transition from grading Multimedia to Accounting, and then back to Advanced Computer Applications.
The Highway Patrol didn’t have any openings for a school bus driving test in time for FBLA State Contest so I’m going to wait until this summer to get certified. Too bad, because I’m pretty sure I’d kick it’s butt.

Had a great morning!
At church it was the youth service, and they brought in a young married couple that played a guitar and a violin to go along with the music. GOOD STUFF!
Then I finally went to the inquirers class, so in a few weeks I’ll be a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia!
Inquirers class was cool. There were only three of us there, myself and a married couple that live apart during the week. She teaches Art Education at Mizzou (she was Em’s art teacher for the Fellows Program and remembered Emily when I said her name) and he is a dentist in Carrolton, Mo. Every weekend he drives to their place in Columbia for the weekend, hence joining a church in Columbia.
Both were really nice.
We were joined by one of the pastors and an elder that is part of a committee that is in charge of finding new members.
The only bad part of the class is that it was over after 10:30…so I couldn’t get a delicious sandwhich at Panera

I drove a bus for the first time today. It was sweet!
I ran out of time because my plan period was cut in half due to MAP/Terra Nova testing so I only got to try backing up for a minute, but it was tough telling how far away the end of the bus was from a certain spot.

I must say this first….KU, you still suck at everything….including life.
Secondly, I think it’s extremely ironic that Calipari has said multiple times how the fact that his team is one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the country will not affect their run at the title.
As anyone knows that watched the last few minutes of the game, or read about it, their poor free throw shooting DID lose the game for them.
Nice job coach.
